Read on to learn more about the Neurotoxin treatments available at Elegance Aesthetics.
What are Neurotoxins?
Neurotoxins are injectable cosmetic treatments that can help reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles by temporarily paralyzing the muscles that they are injected into. While Botox usually comes to mind for most people when they are thinking about anti-wrinkle injections, a variety of neurotoxin treatments are available, including Dysport and Xeomin.
Areas Treated by Neurotoxins
Neurotoxin injectables are used to treat cosmetic concerns in many areas of the face. Let’s take a look at some of the most common areas you can have anti-wrinkle neurotoxin injections:
- Forehead Lines
- Crow’s Feet (lines around the eyes)
- Frown Lines (between the eyebrows)
- Bunny Lines (on the nose)
- Lip Lines
- Chin Dimpling
- Neck Bands
Neurotoxins are not just used cosmetically; they can also be used to help manage excessive sweating and even treat migraines that have not responded to medications.
Neurotoxins Available at Elegance Aesthetics, Columbia, MD
At Elegance Aesthetics in Columbia, MD, we offer treatments using only the very best neurotoxins available. We work closely with our patients to understand their needs, the results they hope for, and their history with neurotoxin treatments to help them decide which neurotoxin is right for them.
Let’s take a look at the different neurotoxins we offer at Elegance Aesthetics:
Botox
Botox is the most commonly used neurotoxin and is the one people think of most often when considering neurotoxin treatments. Botox is FDA-approved for treating crow’s feet, frown lines, and forehead wrinkles, as well as for other medical uses such as treatments for excessive sweating.
Botox works by preventing nerve signals from being sent to muscles in the injected area. Without these signals, the muscles cannot perform the movements responsible for forming wrinkles.
Botox results usually last between 3 to 6 months and take about a week to become apparent.
Dysport
Dysport is another FDA-approved neurotoxin derived from Clostridium botulinum, the same bacterium as Botox. It works in the same way as Botox by blocking nerve signals that cause muscle movements.
Dysport, however, is formulated slightly differently. This difference in formulation means that the molecules that make up Dysport are smaller than those that make up Botox. This smaller size means Dysport can spread slightly easier, making it a good choice for treating larger areas like the forehead.
Dysport results are comparable to Botox, lasting 3-6 months on average. Some patients say their Dysport results appear within 2 to 3 days and last longer than Botox.
Xeomin
Xeomin is the newest neurotoxin formulation that we offer at Elegance Aesthetics. Xeomin is a purer form of botulinum toxin derived from the same bacterium as Botox and Dysport. It is commonly referred to as “naked Botox.”
Unlike Dysport and Botox, Xeomin’s formulation does not contain other additives, which may help lower the risk of side effects or developing resistance to the treatment over time.
Xeomin is used to treat forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet. Results take around a week to appear, and the effects last an average of 3 to 4 months.
Botox for Hyperhidrosis
Botox is also FDA-approved for treating hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating. Botox can block the nerve signals that stimulate sweat production when injected into the affected areas, such as the underarms, palms, or feet.
Botox helps to significantly reduce the amount of sweat produced in the treated areas for up to 6 months.
Which Neurotoxin is Right for You?
If you are unsure which neurotoxin is right for you, our expert Elegance practitioners can assess your needs and recommend the best neurotoxin. We consider factors like how quickly you want to see results, how long you want the effects to last, and whether you’ve had this kind of treatment before.
Neurotoxin Treatment Process at Elegance Aesthetics
Here is what you can expect from your neurotoxin treatments with Elegance Aesthetics, Columbia, MD:
Step 1:Consultation
The first step to achieving your neurotoxin goals is to consult with one of our expert Elegance Aesthetic practitioners. During your consultation, you will cover your medical history, anti-wrinkle goals, and any questions or concerns. You will also decide on the type of neurotoxin you will have.
Step 2: Treatment Plan
Using the information gathered at your consultation, your practitioner will create a bespoke treatment plan for you. This plan will be the blueprint for your treatment and will tell you the areas where you will be injected, how many units of neurotoxin you will need, and how much you can expect to pay for your treatment.
Step 3: The Day of Treatment
The treatment area will then be gently cleansed and prepped for injection. If you discussed this during your consultation, your practitioner may also apply a topical numbing cream to the area. Then, they will carefully administer the neurotoxin into the targeted areas via a series of small injections.
Step 4: Aftercare and Results
The neurotoxin process is generally quite quick and should be over in around 30 minutes, depending on the areas you are having treated and the number of units of neurotoxin required.
You will then be provided with detailed aftercare instructions to follow, and your Elegance Aesthetics practitioner will suggest an appropriate amount of time to wait before scheduling a follow-up appointment to assess your results.

Because Shira is beyond careful about sterilization, and cleanliness. I will def. be back when I am due for a touch up in 10-24 mos. (going off time estimates, from online, bc I’ve never had this treatment before) back to Shira, for follow up treatments. Beautiful location, clean and gorgeous spa layout. I went on a Sunday this time, and had my choice of the entire parking lot. Parking was much more tight the first time, but I did find a spot after a cpl. loops around. Bc there’s a designated parking lot behind Elegance Aesthetics Med Spa. Which’s immensely helpful.Posted on Joshua Toney I appreciate Shira and the team so much!
